@shoesforkids. if you hand write your CN22 putting in a total without shipping, be aware that the electronic information submitted will include postage, and the customs officials in the receiving country may well raise an eyebrow when they see a discrepancy in the total value. Russia, for example, are already live with electronic customs.

I've moved over to DHL for international mail because of the difficulties shipping internationally with RM on C&D. The CN22's for DHL do not have the postage included. It is only on CN23's that you put postage, insurance and freightcosts.

Just to add to my previous comment, I read in the Royal Mail services guide today that CN22's should have the value of the product only, and CN23's should have the value of the product plus postage plus insurance.

For items arriving in the UK, you pay Customs Duty on the price of the goods, the cost of shipping, and the cost of insurance. You then pay VAT on everything, including the Duty.

I don't know about other countries, but imagine it would be the same.

I'm not sure if CN22's are somehow exempt from including postage and insurance costs due to the low £270 limit.

We can announce that we are in the initial planning stages of introducing this feature into Click & Drop. We cannot offer a date yet for when the development will be completed, as we are still working on a variety of other features and improvements.

Royal Mail is looking into options for introducing a process to ease the claims process by supplying claims data in a simpler way. The investigation work is being carried out and we will then look as to when we can fit this into the development roadmap fro Click & Drop alongside the other requests we receive.

When a firm date for introducing this new feature, we will communicate through the user voice and message centre in Click & Drop

    Regards

Hi, and thank you for your suggestion. For orders going to countries that require electronic customs information, we will be including the ability to add and edit all product and customs data.
We cannot give an exact day yet for when this will be released.

    Graham Wharton commented  ·

I notice that if I download an order from my Magento store, that the CN22 and customs data total value includes the postage value, but if i create the order manually in C&D and add the same product details, the CN22 and customs data total value does not include the postage value.

Royal Mail helpdesk say that CN22's should now include the postage value in the total, so how do I accomplish this when entering orders manually.

    Graham Wharton commented  ·

I was told by RM that if i crossed out the barcode to stop anyone accessing the electronic customs information when i know the information is incorrect will be classed as defacing a label and will not be accepted. Meanwhile im getting call from my DHL account manager tomorrow regarding switching to Global Mail.

I refuse to sign a CN22 when i know the info on it is wrong.

    Graham Wharton commented  ·

Well, we are now live, and we still don't have the ability to edit customs information.

I need to be able to remove products from an order.

At the moment for certain orders I am attaching unsigned CN22's with a note on them that the information is incorrect, and customs should use the attached customs invoice for declaration purposes.

    When will you fix this!

    Graham Wharton commented  ·

Presumably this ability will be added in the next couple of days as it is due to go live on the 1st of next month. If not, can you advise on the appropriate method that we should use to stop Royal Mail making a legal declaration on my behalf when I know the information that you will be declaring is incorrect?

And especially frustrating if you need to split an order into two. If you manually create a 2nd order, you can't remove one of the items from the first order.

I don't know if it is available in all variants of C&D but Royal Mail provide the Print Assist software which installs on your desktop. This allows the automatic printing of labels direct to your GK420D with a single click of "Generate Label" button. I assume this is ZPL behind the scenes.

And also, you are recommended to describe the item on a customs declaration, and not just put down the make and model of whatever it is.

A customs official will understand what "ABC MP3 Player" is, but may not understand "ABC Pro 123XVNN v1.3 Blue"
