Thank you to everyone who signed up to our beta testing program for the public API. registration for this program is now closed.
When the program starts, our development team will collect feedback and use this to inform the next steps of this feature.

We will post further updates as we have them.

Kind regards,

Thanks for that Darren, will take a look into it next week. I wonder why their own documentation stated there was an API "coming" in March 2018 then? Odd...

I do the following (in code):

Check the name string for any spaces: in .NET use .Contains(' ')

If yes, carry on as normal as we have more than one word.

If no there is only a single word, so prepend the string with "FAO: ":
(In .Net: name = "FAO: " + name;)

C&D then sees the name as more than a single word and validates. We need this as our names are often business addresses, and some of these business can only be 1 word. So the name becomes FAO: <Business> or FAO: <First Name> etc

Check that your Etsy Database isn't storing the value as HTML Encoded "'" instead of as '. This is a common security measure to prevent code injection. If it is, then this will be a global issue for all Etsy Integrations.

@sl - Thanks for the kind words :) I got home one night the other week and thought "There's gonna be some people pulling their hair out over this", so decided to write as much of it as possible from memory, then just dumped in some code examples from the project the next morning.

As for your Saturday Delivery issue, I am using SD1 for Saturday Delivery Guaranteed by 1PM, is this a similar service to what you need? let me know and I'll get back to you with what I have/can think up

If you set up your Dropbox integration to upload the label files you can just reprint the pdf file from your results folder. Not a one click solution but at least you don't have to go all the way through the C&D portal to get a reprint done.

Are you talking about setting recorded delivery? It's really dumb that you can't have it as in imported field but there is a solution (Excerpt from my guide on switching to C&D from DMO automation):

Setting up recorded delivery
This was where I got stuck. There's no input field for recorded delivery so it took a few phone calls to support to find a rather counter intuitive solution. In C&D we need to set up a Shipping Rule where we can get C&D to apply automatic postage (including recorded delivery) for us. In my case I have decided to levy the Shipping Cost parameter to catch my recorded deliveries, but you could use any of the available fields.

Go to Setting -> Shipping Rules and create a new one

Point the shipping rule at your DropBox integration and apply it to all orders with a specific value.

Setup as many rules as you need for services, each with a different Shipping Cost value and a different service with the "Obtain a Signature" option checked. We only use CRL24 and CRL48 in this instance so I only need 2 rules, but this can be easily extended.

Here's the counter-intuitive bit... Your csv can't have ANY service code already present or it'll bypass all the shipping rules. That one cost me a lot of time as it's not documented anywhere, and the Shipping Rule Checker will say it should work when you test the file. Genius.

So we need to write something like this (Again, inside Timer1)

//Check if your order is a recorded delivery. This will be dependent on your setup.
if (recorded === true){
//If it is a recorded delivery, transcribe the service to our shipping rule.
switch(label.Service){
//Check for all your services using case(). Assign the corresponding Shipping Rule value you've set up on C&D
case ("CRL24"):
label.ShippingTotal = <Shipping rule Value here>;
break;
case ("CRL48"):
label.ShippingTotal = <Different Shipping rule Value here>;
break;
//Default case can be whatever you want
default:
label.ShippingTotal = "";
break;
}
//IMPORTANT - Remove the orginal service value to allow the shipping rule to run
label.Service = "";
}

That's how I get my recorded deliveries through automatically. C&D does really need an input field for this as having to catch a recorded delivery and strip out the Service Code from the csv is really silly.

Let me know if you need any more help with this

Would really like this feature for validating errors automatically. As it stands when we get an error file back we have to guess what caused the error or log in to see the message (as noted in the author's post)

AGREED!

I currently trick C&D by attaching "FAO: " to the start of the name line if it gets arsey. I have to do this as we dispatch to businesses, not always individuals. So I have a 1 word company name that C&D won't accept. However, it does accept "FAO: <Company>"

In regards to GDPR, there are 6 different "Reasons" for holding someone's personal data, and what rights both parties involved have, regarding said data.

Thankfully, this data would fall under the "Contract" type, meaning that the information is a requirement in order for you to complete a contract that both parties have entered into.

This is not the same as the "Consent" type, which is the major one we're all getting worried about. Information obtained under "Consent" gives the individual the right to be forgotten etc.

More info on the Contract definition here:
https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-the-general-data-protection-regulation-gdpr/lawful-basis-for-processing/contract/

I advise reading the entire documentation on GDPR from the ICO, takes a little brain power to process it all, but it's not actually as bad as we all thought. You just need to prep ahead of time and get your justifications in writing before 25 May.

Hope this was helpful!

I think you might be able to achieve this using a shipping rule. On the last page (of 3) when setting up your rule, there is an option for auto-selecting department.

1 thing to remember! Your csv cannot have ANY service code in it (Leave it blank), and use the shipping rule to apply the correct service for you (Page 3 again). If you include a shipping code in the csv, it will ignore any shipping rule that should be applied to it.

Hope that helps!

You'll need to set up a Dropbox integration and get Print Assist enabled on your account (along with downloading the Royal Mail Print Assist application). This should achieve what you need.

You can auto-printing do it without Print Assist, but it requires some coding and a copy of Adobe Acrobat Pro or Adobe Reader 8.0

Surprised no one from RM has responded to this query as it's quite straightforward...

I think all you need to do is go to:

Setting -> Channels & stores -> Select the Dropbox Integration and in the options uncheck "Upload labels to Dropbox"

I could be wrong, I have the labels so it's easy for the team to reprint if needed. If not, you could always write a function in your script to delete any pdf files in the folders as it loops through?
