Yes, this would be a good timesaver for a repetitive task. It just got worse since the Safe Place field extended the page. Ideally the buttons would be floating, so they are available wherever you are in the page. But given that everyone uses different screen sizes, and some (like us) use touch screens, you can't assume everything can be easily compressed into a smaller space that everyone can see completely.

I have a more extreme version of this. Very occasionally we sell one product in a box and C&D gets the weight almost right. But since our gapfill varies in quantity, it's usually a bit off. But 90% of the time, we sell multiple different products in a box, and it adds the single product weight plus its packaging to all the others, so it's completely overstating the weight, and we have to change it every single time.

Sometimes it massively overstates the weight of a product. By kgs. I haven't worked out where the bug is, but we have pretty accurate product weights in Woocommerce. ie. they are all correct to the nearest 5g. And C&D is tampering with them massively. This also impacts our customs forms which always insert completely wrong weights and then the label fails because the total parcel weight is less than the sum of the contents, and I have to manually remove all the weights in the customs form for it to print. In my view this tampering amounts to attempted fraud because it is so predictable that it will result in inflated costs if we fail to correct it.

For similar reasons the Rules automation is completely useless. It is almost so helpful, as it could pre-fill easy fields, by matching the Woocommerce shipping service to a RM service and even parcel type. But because it assumes its weights are correct and applies them automatically, it's trying to overcharge us.

    Such a shame.

I agree. Overall, the service is excellent. We are on Woocommerce. We don't use tracked 24/48, as the delivery confirmation of vanilla 24/48 is good enough. We have *very* few go missing. Of those, it's a mix of vanishing before delivery attempt and vanishing despite being confirmed delivered. We've received more stray parcels for other people in sacks that should have been empty than we've lost parcels of our own!
They tried to sell us the tracked service, and for about £1 extra, there is no way I can justify it. The lack of flexibility of dropping off sacks is a worry if anything goes wrong. The extra tracking would be useful in rare cases. The extra notifications to the customer would be intrusive. The compensation would be useless. In most of the few cases, the parcels were marked as delivered, and there's no way RM would compensate. I should say we're in a business with lovely customers. Not a single fraud or chargeback in about 10 years. I trust them. I *once* cancelled an order which I was suspicious about. Getting a refund after manfest is something i don't bother with any more. Last time I saw the phone bill for the premium number, and it exceeded the refund. I stick with the cheap service and absorb the cost of any errors or losses. Works for me.

I agree this would be very useful. In answer to the person who suggested it is YITH who can see it up, that is not really true.

YITH already has the ability to send customers tracking data from Royal Mail, but it does so when the order is marked complete if the tracking code has been input. Because Click & Drop automatically marks the order complete very quickly, it’s generally too late to add the code.
Realistically, this feature could only work with YITH (which is a very popular plugin) if the tracking code was generated at the time a parcel is marked as dispatched and Click & Drop pushes the code to the site when marking as complete.
