Merge and Split Orders
Please implement a function to merge and / or split orders.
Thank you for your feedback.
Development of this feature is currently underway - the status of this page will be updated once it is available to users.
Kind regards,

Fantastic news, thank you!

This has been suggested before and turned down. Please revisit it, especially in the light of the new customs data situation. The workaround (Record the weight for the combined items package and print one label) is clunky and doesn't give a true record of the transaction.
The other workaround is to give up and get the drop off Post Office to do any orders that need combining. Which is probably what I'll do in future!

Our courier integration recognises when a customer has placed multiple orders on eBay, for shipping to the same address, and asks us if we would like to merge them into one shipment. It would be great if C&D could do the same, allowing us to create 1 label and for that tracking to update all the orders - currently we have to manually spot them, then copy the tracking and apply to the other orders.
eBay has recently included a random eBay number within addresses to "track eBay orders" (!?) so this would need to be recognised by C&D and removed from the address, but that wouldn't be difficult to do. For example;

4 years under review ???? 148 votes anyone would think they dont want to combine orders

Guess what, I'm just packing 2 individual items a person bought on eBay & they want them posting together yet C&D won't allow me to combine to the same postcode. I have to manually change the weight & then manually add the tracking to 1 of the orders. We also get a lot of orders on Amazon where a customer buys each item separately too, often they later spot something else they like!!

if combining postage you should give your customer a postage refund if they have paid 4 separate postage costs

Just a simple click the ones with the same postcode and then use the drop down box to select "combine orders to 1 order" would be tip top.
Why doesn't someone in development send a quarterly email to all Click & Drop customers with the top 10 possible updates and the return vote gets fixed or explained why it can't be done.

Thank you all for your suggestions. We understand the importance of this feature for our customers who directly integrate their eCommerce stores. We are beginning to plan how to add in the functionality to split, merge, and clone orders.
However, we cannot give you a time for when this will be completed as we are currently working on a range of other useful features. -

Totally agree.
I offer free eBay P&P so the ability to combine items to the same person is paramount.
I too do the 'delete 3 combine the 4th' approach. Also like @Charles idea of automating it by a simple checksum

You would get a totally automated process from click and drop,
without having to click on what to combine. if the weight of the items and packaging were separated.for example
1.If postcode and house equal the same
2.Combine two item weights
3. Add packaging weight once
Benefits save time, and accurate billing! :)

just the option to select the orders then click combine, then post as normal would suffice

It is a very important issue and should be addressed ASAP.

Totally agree with Kavs! :) Because that is exactly our situation too!
Feature like
"take away x grams for every extra unit above y unit(s)" from total weight, and the same for "every extra order"
Would be greatl! :)

Charles' comment below is a valid one, we currently have every item weighed as "one unit including packaging" rounded up to the next 5g (to account for extra . We manually adjust the weight for combined items. So in our case being able to adjust the weight manually for combined items works. If this can be automated somehow, to say a global setting where it applies a rule like: "take away x grams for every extra unit above y unit(s)" from total weight, and the same for "every extra order".

Maybe so charckes but personally I’m fine with having to apply postage for those orders manually, as long as the c and d can detect multiples of the same address in a batch and give an option of grouping The orders I’d be more ham happy. It beats having to delete an order and copy the information and update postage To add to the second order which is where we are now.

You need to separate packaging weight, and product weight for this feature to work.
1 Card box = 40g (and can hold 10 items)
1 Item = 10gSay you sell 6x items
the actual weight would be 100g
The click and drop would work weight as 300g
because of 6 boxes 40g = 240g
6 products = 60gIf you don't separate the weight.
The next issue from users will be the total combined weight for packaging and items
to be separate -

Agree :)

I agree with this combining, additionally should also apply to csv imports of orders.

It would indeed make things easier to be able to combine multiple orders into one package, or indeed to remove items for separate posting.

I agree with this. In Linnworks you can select orders to "merge". That way none have to be deleted and the correct amount of items ordered shows on the merged order.
