Set total parcel weight to include weight of packaging based on number of products
Have more comprehensive shipping rules that can correctly set the parcel weight when more than one product is in the order. For example you could set your product weights to be only the weight of the actual product (excluding packaging) and the shipping rule could add a set weight of packaging on top. Or it could work like "1 product = total weight of XXg, 2 products = total weight of XXg" etc.
How do you guys get around this problem? I just don't want my stuff to be held or delayed because the weights don't match up.
This is a good idea - assigning packaging weight to "type of service" Large Letters and paperwork weight 15g product 5g - double order = 40g - when it should when it should be 25g
I have a temp solution: not tried it yet - therory is there - but in product weight in "product import" ensure weight is 100% weight of product - this is not wrong.
Now when it comes to processing orders with more two items - the calculation on product weight is correct. - however we are now missing the packet weight (in my case 15g) - and all Large letters weight about this. So..... first create a product with an SKU code of LL17. title it whatever you like "Packaging" value of 0.00, weight of 15g.
Now access the order - edit contents by adding another product- choose LL17 - so instead of messing around with editing weights of 2 3 or more products and deleting all "packing weights for each" 2 or more times- simply add the packing weight once - so total weight will be all product weights added correct +1 the new item which is packing weight - exact and correct weight will work out. I am of course as I write aware that now - single orders will now aslo need to have this added. Seems either way they want us to spend extra hours a day working on a badly thought out click and drop system.
Just an idea
Agreed, this is preventing us from moving over to Click and Drop, we are still using our OBA and average weight, yet Royal Mail are keen for everyone to move across.
We don't want to have to go into each order and apply the correct overall postage according to the packaging weight. Please fix this Royal Mail!

+1 for this feature, we have orders mostly in the 2's & 3's but the packaging weight gets multiplied, an item that weighs 130g as 1 item gets set to 260g in click and drop if there are x2 of the same item whereas the actual weight would only be 190g meaning that we cannot use the automation service as we have to manually alter each order to reflect correct weight :( if we could have a packaging section where we could fill out a package type name and its weight and assign it to a product in the library any products matching the same packaging should only pull the package weight through once making it MUCH quicker to use and more accurate!
Agreed. It's a complete pain in the bum. I have to check and adjust every weight on orders with multiple products.
It often, and needlessly, puts me over (for example) the 100g weight band when the package weight is actually under.
The same problem :/ My packaging is 25g and the product weight is 10g = 35g. When I get 2 orders of the same product. Click and drop does the weight as 35g total x 2 = 70g, when the actual weight 10g x2 + 25g -= 45g.
