Auto Manifest OFF by DEFAULT!
The Auto Manifest option has been mentioned many times in this forum, and they are all against it.
Do NOT mark this as complete with the answer 'contact customer services and ask for it to be turned off' as that is not the answer as this request is for it to be off by default.
I can not see a single reason why anyone would want auto manifest. All post is REQUIRED to have a manifest when presented to Royal Mail. So what use is auto manifest, it doesn't help people who sent their mail and forgot to create a manifest. They would be charges a fee for presenting without a manifest.
Most users of Click and Drop will have their post collected long before 6:30. For example if your business has a 4pm collection then a manifest is being generated at 3:30pm to accompany the post that is due to be collected at 4pm. But business does not stop there, orders are still arriving after 3:30 and these orders need to be picked and packed ready for the next day.
By far the largest majority of customers do not need auto manifest. This should be a user selectable option in the Click & Drop settings and should be OFF by default.
Hi and thank you for your suggestion.
The auto manifest process works well for the vast majority of our customers. However, if you wish for it to be disabled, our support team are able to do this for you, as you stated.
Update: It would seem that it is possible after all - "We cannot disable the auto-manifest function without the client managers authorisation."
Followed by: "This has now been switched off on your account."
The feature to turn it off was available, as I had it done on another account, but Customer service now claim that it s not possible. Does that mean that they have gone out of the way to as the developers to re-code the service so it is not possible?
Why would they do that?
When I asked them to switch it on they replied
"Unfortunately we are unable to disable the auto-manifest function.
However I have enabled the future dating of orders facility to prevent orders being automatically manifested.
You can input the future planned dispatch date in the field below when applying postage-"
And now when I go to print a label I have an option to enter a posting date, all they have done is create more work for me at busy times and should I forget to do it those orders will auto manifest.
I manually manifest orders at the time of posting as my mail will not be accepted without one.
I don’t even think customer support can turn it off. The people I spoke to informed me there was nothing they could do so having it turned off for me wasn’t even an option. Your post sums it up nicely however. Very little need for an auto manifest, They do that yet don’t have things like auto order grouping for orders in the same batch going to the same address so items posted aeoerately. Feels more like these things are done to increase profit, after all, manifested items not sent are still billed.
