I would like to see the cost of the postage before I commit to apply postage
We have no idea how much the parcel will cost. I would like an alert for each postal amount before I commit to applying the post especially for international mail

Not being able to check the price of something before committing to purchase is absolutely ludicrous, and is simply unheard of elsewhere where prices are fixed, is it even legal to essentially withhold prices until you commit to buy? RM, please add this most basic of functions to C & D, the data is easily available, and surely the development time and effort to add an extra field when creating orders isn't that great?
Having the ability to check prices beforehand on OBA is not a valid workaround or reason for not making this information readily available in C & D.
Please sort it out!
My question is why is this not standard practice?

I am completely disheartened and disgusted with Royal Mail. No pricing listed before purchasing, no access to individual pricing for claims, and no answer to my email of 3 weeks ago apart from to say that 'Click and Drop will not show individual postage costs and will only show the overall cost of the manifest once manifested.' No help AT ALL from my supposed Account Manager. Royal Mail expect us customers to know every aspect about their pricing and how they work, and yet their 'customer service' always passes you through to another department for ANOTHER hour wait on the phone because they don't know the answer to the question. Disgusting, and they only get away with it because they are the sole mail provider in the UK. I will be taking my thousands of complaints to the Ombudsman, and I suggest more people do the same until we can get straight answers from RM!

Absolutely true. Why not provide or hide the cost from your customer? It should be transparent and make it less frustrated for your customer RM.

We need this urgently, especially post Brexit. I can check elsewhere but with all of the various factors, surcharges, discounts, etc it's almost impossible to work out an exact price on each package. And when I'm posting things to clients and charging them shipping at cost, how do I know what to put on their invoices?
Why not just show us it? It's obviously in the system already as you compile a total price everytime we manifest, so the prices are in there? Just put them on the screen.
just moved over from the paypal version to the OBA click&drop.. how can this not of been addressed already when this post was started in 2018.

Price quoting needs to be a feature ASAP. Put a "QUOTE" button next to the "Apply & Generate Postage" button.
Royal Mail's pricing tables are so arcane and don't even include surcharges etc that it's a waste of time to try and work out how much a parcel is through that.
This is also a right pain when making claims, as if you have sent hundreds/ thousands of items on 1 manifest it is almost impossible to work out how much you have paid for that specific parcel, especially if it's a foreign one
Please display postage cost on my business account Click and Drop before I commit, you have it on the public version!!! I use other couriers for larger parcels as I have no idea what you will charge me, you're loosing sales??

As we HAVE to put the cost of postage in the customs declination now BEFORE we manifest, this has now become an URGENT problem.
You have told us WE are not compliant because we don't put the cost of the postage in the customs declaration, but it is actually YOU who are not giving us the information to do this.
Id really, really like the weights totals, I agree - we had it before, why take it away :(
Why cant we have cost of postage you can send us letters for surcharges and other fee charges but you can't provide cost per item or even estimated cost ?

I would like to preview the manifest before committing - it is a good way of spotting errors and will save Royal Mail admin time for correcting billing errors manually due to incorrect submission like accidental wrong parcel weight or Large Letter vs parcel errors etc.

There are two threads on here which get a lot of comments.
The first is this one where business users are asking to know the price before we manifest.
The second is from customers using C+D without a business account. They are complaining (quite rightly) that they do not want the cost of the postage paid shown on the label.
Can anyone else see the irony here ?
