Why is it that you have done all the work for populating the CN23 for the pre electronic information yet you have not bothered to have it populate all the required fields such as the sender and the recipient ? It seem obvious to have these populated as the information is there. Alos the category is a required field so why can we not populate that from any import?
The current version of the CN23 means that every one has to have handwritten information added making them look untidy and time consuming to fill in our details and the customer details when this information is already available. We send a large number parcels that require this form and I had hoped that with the new requirements for pre electronic information that Royal Mail would have added this to the form to help speed up customers processes.
Why was this not done?
Thank you for your suggestions. We are currently working on pre-populating the missing data and specifying different printers for CN22 and CN23 documents via Royal Mail Print Assist.
With the notification today that C & D is being updated to allow Electronic customs data to be loaded to European orders, and with Brexit looming heavy on the horizon, there will be even more need for CN23's and so I was wondering if there had been any actual progress in relation to this as by the end of the year it is likely that it will be a totally unworkable process for us to use C & D for any parcel outside of the UK with a value over £270 given the number of parcels my company sends into Europe above that threshold.
I cannot believe it is that hard to do as the CN22 is already populated and most of the rest of the information needed like sender and recipient are already available.
Sorry Mick I also use 6x4. I don't know why I put A4! I also have a Zebra printer etc too. So the only possible difference I can see is that you're "manually" uploading your files and I do it through Drop Box. Maybe there is a bit of code missing between drop box and click and drop so it's not returning the extra file....? Maybe ADMIN could look at this?
I am using the web interface and like you importing with a CSV and or XLS spreadsheet. It produces 2 PDF's the first one is the CN 23 and the second is the label one which has the label and then a second label that says 'Printing not supported on paper size 6 x 4.
Our setting are:-
1) Separate label and despatch note
3) Do not generate despatch note
4) Generate customs declarations with orders
So the only one that seems different to yours is the label format. As I say when you generate the label after applying the postage we get the 2 PDFs. Maybe it is the paper size that is the issue, we are using a Zebra printer and the Royal Mail provided 6x4 labels on a roll so maybe that is different to you.
I am sure the Click & Drop support team can help you out if you are not getting the CN23 PDF.
Mick Clarke - Are you using the web interface directly or the desk top app? I am importing a csv file and while I get a separate customs form PDF, it is only formatted as 6 x 4 and just says "you cant print a CN23 in this format" I don't get any PDF's in a A4 format.
I am also set to use 6x4 labels and have the 'Generate customs declarations with orders' set as otherwise it wouldn't print CN22's which it does.
My click and drop label format setting are:
1 - Separate label & despatch note
2 - A4
3 - Do not generate despatch notes
4 - Generate customs declarations with orders
How does this differ from your settings?
I suggest it is to do with your settings as when we have orders that should produce CN23's we get two PDF's produced the Label and the CN23 which is a separate PDF and prints on an A4 sheet. We are set to use 6x4 labels but have the 'Generate customs declarations with orders' then we get two PDF's, the label prints a 'blank' label with CN23 not set for this format but we get the CN23 as a separate document.
We just need the CN23 to be fully populated rather than just with the product details, after all the addressee and sender are all pieces of information that are know, I don't understand why this was not done in the first place.
The problem is that even if and when you do decide to start to populate a CN23, you won't be able to print it! If you have set up to print 6x4 labels then all that happens is you get a 6x4 label saying you cant print a CN23 - as happened to me today. So it looks like you need to be able to generate two pdfs, i.e. 6x4 for main label and A4 for CN23? If so this also this needs to be supported by Print Assist to automatically print to each appropriate printer. You can't even go in a manually ask it to re-print the customs notice!
Can anyone help with this? It seems a major limitation with a no deal Brexit just around the corner and the thought of hand writing custom notes for orders over £270 to Europe as well as current ROW locations is orders is not good. Please sort it so that CN23s are flagged to separately print on A4 when using Print Assist. I note you can't even print the customs separately from the web interface! We've done all the work to send through HS codes and country of origin, so please do your bit and allow us to print the correct custom label :)
I second this, very tedious to have to fill out manually.
As CN23s are triggered (over £270), if you're configured to print 6x4 labels then CN23 fail to generate and cause an error. CN22s print fine with the current 6x4 format in settings. There looks to be something missing - maybe two pdfs need generating, i.e. 6x4 for main label and A4 for CN23? If so, this needs to be supported by Print Assist to automatically print to each appropriate printer.
