Scrap Paper Manifests
I do not understand why in this modern age we are still having to print off paper manifests? Surely there is no need for these since all our postage labels now have a barcode and we are told Royal Mail do not charge until a label's barcode has been scanned into the system. No other courier company we use has such antiquated ways of doing business. Furthermore, nobody in Royal Mail knows what to do with these manifests. RM website and call centre say hand them to the driver and do not put them in the mail bag. Collection drivers say they have no idea what they are and do not want them, just put them in the bag!

I agree. I have always been told by the pick-up driver to put the manifest printout in the bag ( that way they can't get separated).. NO NO, I get a phone call from some office to say they have have noted that I am putting the manifest in the bag. You must not do that and it must be given to the driver. Fine, then you get "were is the manifest for the sack". So I put one in the bag and one for the driver. What a waste of paper. The sack has the tag on with the manifest number along with the poster number, so why do they need that piece of paper? Yes it has a bar code, but there must be another way.
