Long address not printed on a label but showing ....
Include more symbols on a label for address
Hi and thanks for your suggestions. We have fixed a bug which could cause the end of some longer addresses to be removed.
If you are still encountering this issue, we would urge you to contact our support team so we can investigate further.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
This now appears to have been sorted. Customer address is in a nice large font, and the inclusion of a comma no longer causes any issues.
Over the weekend I have been investigating this myself as we send many international orders where this is happening. It would appear that certain characters cause the issue, the commonly-used comma "," being one of them. Anywhere in the address details, if there is a comma, it will fail to print said comma and generate "..." at the end of the line instead, regardless of the number of characters.
It is possible to still have the old-style of labels generated, if you simply tick the option to generate dispatch notes along with your postage labels.
Royal Mail suggesting we need to now manually edit addresses is absolutely ridiculous, but not unexpected in the least for those of us that have used this system for a long time. However, this is clearly a formatting issue, so it will need to be fixed.
SO I got an email today from Royal Mail saying they looked into this problem on another thread here and its fixed. So why have I had 9 labels this morning already with no endings to some of the address and having to either write the rest of the address on myself or reset the order and edit the address to fit myself.
I really cant see this being that difficult to correct. But its a right pain in the touchee.
Can someone at the royal mail please confirm what the maximum number of characters for each of the various fields in allowed or at least confirm a link to where this info is?
It's becoming very frustrating. Having to write or re edit a load of addresses.
Some end in .... but then when you check the whole address is actually there. Which is also annoying so now I have to check all that end with .... to see which is missing and sometimes its crucial details like a flat number or the street name, (Avenue, Road, close, Dale, Park ) these missing words can really hinder a delivery.
I have wrote to them several times and the past 4 replies have been basically, you deal with it. Nothing we can do.
Addresses are incomplete on labels
I have ebay , shopify and amazon integrated with my click and drop. The addresses are sent perfectly but when the labels are generated about 20% of my daily postings have missing parts of the address. Due to longer addresses not fitting on the lines. All I get is .... after the last address name. Can you fix to have the whole address showing on the labels so I dont have to finish with a pen or reset and re edit the address each time.
We are having the same issue. Never had the issue with the old labels as it would resize the font to fit the label. The new design even though our address line 1 and address line 2 are within their 100 character rule guide https://www.royalmail.com/sites/default/files/Click%20%20Drop%20Order%20Import%20Specifications.pdf cuts off at around 30 characters (although this is unpredictable as we've checked against multiple address to try and find if there is a new rule).
We currently have to manually check and edit each address and we send 100s of parcels! Please fix this bug asap, I guarantee it's happening to more people and they're not noticing, as we sent one batch out without realising when the update first happened.
I have had the same issue! Lots of addresses end in ... obviously missing important information such as appartment numbers. We do not have time to amend the address onto another line. It worked before so please amend your coding so it defaults it to a smaller typeface.

so I got a response from royal mail:
Thank you for your email,
I would like to apologise for the delay in my response to you.
After looking at the address details i can see that it looks like it will exceed the total amount of characters for one line.
When your orders come into click and drop you may have to edit the address details and use another line.
Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you.
Does royal mail actually expect us to manually check every ebay order we get in for the length of characters in address??
This has never been an issue with the old labels. It used to adjust the return address and make that smaller to accommodate for the longer first line of address

I have had over 30 orders today alone that have simply missed the first line of address on the label as its too long when pulled from ebay. This has only started happening on the new click and drop labels with routing codes and weights.
instead of showing the full address it shows "..."
