Can Royal Mail international standard be tracked? I mean we get a refernce number and would be great if at least would say delivered.
I think would be great and a piece of mind for sellers to be able to see if item is been delivered throught standard international. We have the option via uk already. Why not international ? Most of the time we cannot figure out if items are lost or of customers lied about it. At the end of the day they have a reference number and a scanning code. That would be amazing. I know will be denied but I wanted to try anyway💜💜💜
Oddly - the reference number works on some international postal websites, generally once delivery is attempted. It is very hit and miss - Sweden is one country, but only if you view the English version of their site and they deny it works!
It was useful as I had 4 packets sent to Sweden just before Christmas and every one was returned "not collected" !!
Live tracking isn't even updated and we pay for that so the likelyhood of them doing it for items we don't pay for tracked just isn't even a thing.
Royal Mail should go back to being a Government run operation, not a private business.
At the moment I do not believe this is something Royal Mail can change. All Postage Companies have to include a UPU S10 tracking number for Customs purposes. When you pay for the "Tracked" service, the sending UPU delivery member (in our case, Royal Mail) pays the recipient UPU member (e.g. Malta Post) an extra fee to treat the item as a "Registered item" and scan it within their network. When you buy International Standard (or International Economy) that fee is not paid, so the recipient delivery company does not provide the tracking data to Royal Mail. (Whether the recipient delivery company is actually scanning it and processing it internally doesn't actually help - they haven't been paid to provide the tracking data, so they wont).
everyone would love this for sure hence why I'm upvoting.. but here's something that may surprise you. They already have track information for every item through automated sorting - it's purposely disabled as it's not in the price. The tracking for plain items is for customs processing and when it started it would 'leak' through probably by oversight.. it's since been corrected.
In short - yes it's possible - yes I would like it - it's not going to happen however...
